Yep, you have seen correctly. This one time I need to post my news in English. Only reason: those people shall know, how strange they are.
So what makes me say that the persons/students/finns around me are strange? Well, there was this tiny little bit of a… SitSit! A Sitsit, that basically means a nice get together. But different. very different. I was expecting a nice meal with the theme “Love” as we are approaching Valentine`s Day. The invitation said: 3 course dinner, glas of wine, dress up. Fine, alright, let´s do this. Once seated, the first speech was about to arise. First explanations about what to expect were to come up.
“Well, this is a traditional Finnish SitSit. This means, we are here to sing, drink and eat” (The singing part I have somehow forgotten before, I already heard about these kinds of get togethers from the technical students..) “The basic rule is: if you have something warm on your plate, it shall be cold because you sing and drink so much, if you have something cold, it shall turn into a warm meal.” ooook, this is getting weird. So what, let´s start.
Well, I have experience. I knew already that people that sing can drink a lot (special thanks for this experience to Lisa, Josh and the beautiful Hostel in Noer). But what happens when those singing people are at the same time Finnish? You see the outcome here: (Once I figure out how to upload my great video of “I´m Singing in the Rain” …..
)
So, let´s end this, this evening was great, my voice was gone completely, I will definitely do this again. Next time I remember: when the order is to drink a shot: it does not mean to use the German way of drinking shots! Don´t drink the whole Vodka at once, even if this increases the joy muuuuuch.
